Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by our meet-and-greet lounge host, who will ensure a seamless transition from the airport and aid you through fast-track assistance with visas and luggage collection. After the immigration and baggage collection process, you will be handed over to our driver guide to start your safari journey. You will then be transferred to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Semuliki National Park

After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Semuliki National Park (6-7 hours drive). The Journey will go through Fort Portal, a charming city known for its stunning views of the Rwenzori Mountains. During this drive, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the Albertine Rift Valley and the lush, green countryside. On arrival, you’ll check into one of the cozy lodges near the park. After settling in, you’ll begin your adventure with an evening game drive. This first glimpse into Semuliki’s wildlife allows you to spot various nocturnal animals such as leopards, bush babies, and civets. The park’s unique blend of East and Central African wildlife ensures a diverse array of sightings.

Established in 1993 and Western Uganda, Semuliki National Park spans approximately 220 square kilometers. The park is part of the larger Ituri Forest, which stretches into the Democratic Republic of Congo and serves as a sanctuary for diverse species of flora and fauna. Visitors to Semuliki can witness a blend of East African and Central African ecosystems, making it one of the most biologically rich parks in Uganda. Home to over 441 recorded bird species, 53 mammal species, and the culturally significant Sempaya Hot Springs, Semuliki National Park offers a truly unique safari experience.

Day 3: Visit the Sempaya Hot Springs and Cultural Tour

Following breakfast at 0600hrs, you’ll embark on a journey to explore Sempaya Hot Springs one of Semuliki’s major attractions and a natural geothermal wonder that holds cultural significance for the local Bamaga people. The hot springs consist of the male and female springs, locally known as Bintente and Nyasimbi. The Nyasimbi (female) hot spring is known for its boiling water, reaching temperatures of up to 103°C, and visitors can witness boiling waterspouts and bubbling pools. Tourists often bring eggs to cook in the boiling water, a unique and memorable experience. In the afternoon, you enjoy a Cultural Tour with the Batwa Community. A safari to Semuliki would be incomplete without interacting with the indigenous Batwa people. Often referred to as “the keepers of the forest,” the Batwa have lived in this area for generations, relying on forest resources for their survival. The cultural tour provides an opportunity to learn about the Batwa’s traditional hunting techniques, herbal medicine, and music. You will engage with the community, enjoy traditional dances, and gain insight into the rich cultural heritage that has coexisted with Semuliki’s natural environment for centuries.

Day 4: Nature Walk and Birdwatching

On the final day, embark on a guided nature walk through the forests of Semuliki. This immersive experience allows you to appreciate the intricate ecosystem, towering trees, and lush vegetation. Accompanied by an experienced guide, you may spot various primate species, butterflies, and flora unique to the Ituri Forest. This serene walk is ideal for photography enthusiasts, offering numerous scenic visitors. You will also spot rare bird species unique to this part of Africa. Some notable sightings include the PipingHornbill, the Red-billed Dwarf Hornbill, and the Black-casqued Wattled Hornbill. After this rejuvenating nature walk and birdwatching, it’s time to check out of your lodge and begin the journey back to Kampala with lunch in Fort Portal City. You’ll take a last look at the breathtaking landscapes as you leave this spectacular park, carrying unforgettable memories of Uganda’s hidden paradise.

Day 5: City Tour – Return to Entebbe – Departure

At 07h30, you will embark on a tour around Kampala city including key sites starting with Kabaka’s palace and torture chambers in Mengo. At 10h00, you will visit Kasubi tombs and Gaddafi Mosque for a panoramic view of the city before going to have lunch before resuming the trip back to Entebbe. Depending on the time of departure you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home.
