Zipline Adventure in Nyungwe National Park

The Zipline Adventure in Nyungwe - A Journey Through the Canopy

Zipline adventure in Nyungwe National Park is a thrilling experience that propels visitors over the lush rainforest canopy, offering panoramic views that capture the untamed beauty of one of Rwanda’s most iconic natural treasures. Nyungwe National Park is renowned for its rich biodiversity, but the zipline adventure adds an adrenaline-charged dimension to its allure.  Nyungwe National Park is one of Africa’s oldest and most biologically diverse rainforests. It is home to over 1,000 plant species, 13 primate species, and a staggering 300 bird species. But beyond its biodiversity.

The zipline adventure in Nyungwe National Park is one of the longest and highest ziplines in East Africa and Africa at large. This stretches over the lush Uwinka ridge, gliding adventurers above the treetops with panoramic views of the tropical montane forest, deep ravines, and mist-covered valleys.

The Zipline Experience

The zipline adventure in Nyungwe National Park begins at the Uwinka Reception Center, the main access point to many of Nyungwe’s activities. After a safety briefing and gearing up with helmets and harnesses, professional guides lead you to the launch platform perched on one of the highest ridges in the park. Designed with strict adherence to international safety standards, the zipline is suitable for adventurers from the age of 6, making it a great experience for families as well as solo explorers.

The zipline course comprises three major sections: the first stretches about 350 meters long, while the second boasts an exhilarating 500 meters, and the third one about 1000 meters across one of the forest’s most scenic valleys.

Participants are given a comprehensive safety briefing before gearing up with helmets, harnesses, and gloves. Trained guides accompany each group, ensuring that even first-time zipliners feel secure and informed. As you launch off the platform, you’ll be struck by a gust of wind and a breathtaking view that remains seared in your memory.

When to Go Ziplining in Nyungwe National Park

The best time to visit Nyungwe for ziplining is during the dry seasons of June to September and December to February. During these periods, trails are more accessible, and visibility from the canopy is at its best.

However, Nyungwe’s zipline is open year-round, and even during the rainy season, the forest takes on a magical quality with mist-veiled trees and heightened bird activity. Waterproof gear is recommended during wetter months.
